Admission Requirements
a.) Postgraduate Diploma
The following shall qualify for the Postgraduate Diploma admission:
- Graduates of Usmanu Danfodiyo University or other recognized universities are eligible for admission.
- Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) (not HD) with a minimum of Lower Credit pass or its equivalent in relevant areas.
- In special cases, holders of HND with minimum of Lower Credit pass in non- related areas may be admitted after passing such tests as maybe prescribed by the departments/Faculties.
- Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above which are acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate School and Senate of the University
- In addition to (i) – (iv) above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s minimum requirement(s) for matriculation.
b.) Masters Degree (Academic and Professional)
The following shall qualify for the Masters Degree admission:
- Graduates of Usmanu Danfodiyo University or other recognized universities who have obtained the approved degree of Bachelor with at least second-class division or its equivalent, or candidates with University degree and appropriate Postgraduate Diploma of Usmanu Danfodiyo University or other recognized University with at least a credit level pass.
- Candidates whose degrees are unclassified with average of “C” or 50% or above. Such candidates may be subjected to qualifying tests.
- Candidates with only Bachelors degree in Third Class division who have at least five years post graduation relevant working experience.
- Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate School and Senate of the University.
- Candidates may be required to pass examination set by departments to which they are seeking admission to determine their suitability for postgraduate work.
- In addition to (i) -(v) above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s requirements for matriculation
c.) Master of Philosophy (M. Phil.)
The following shall qualify for Master of Philosophy admission:
- Graduates of Usmanu Danfodiyo University or other recognized Universities who have obtained a Masters degree with a minimum GPA of less than 3 on a 4-point scale or less than 4 on 5-point scale.
- Holders of a Masters degree in a cognate discipline with a GPA of 4 and above may be admitted.
- Candidates with a degree of Professional Masters with at least a Bachelors degree may qualify for admission.
- Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate School and Senate of the University
- In addition to (i) – (iv) above, a candidate must satisfy the university’s requirements for matriculation.
d.) Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
The following shall qualify for the Doctor of Philosophy admission:
- Graduates of Usmanu Danfodiyo University and other recognized universities who have obtained good Masters Degree with a GPA of not less than 4 on a 5-point scale or 3 on a 4-point scale appropriate to the proposed areas of study.
- Candidates with the Degree of Professional Masters with at least a Bachelor’s Degree may qualify for admission provided that they satisfy the condition in (i) above.
- Graduates of Usmanu Danfodiyo University and other recognized universities who have obtained Masters of Philosophy degree appropriate to the proposed areas of study.
- In addition to (i), (ii) and (iii) above candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Second Class lower division.
- Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate School and Senate of the University
- In addition to (I) – (v) above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s requirements for matriculation.
NOTE:
- Holders of Higher Diploma (HND) are NOT recognized for admission into the Postgraduate Programmes of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University.
- Applicants with PASS at any level (Diploma or Degree) are not eligible for admission.
- Applicants without NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate need not apply.
Duration of Programmes
- Postgraduate Diploma: minimum of 2 Semesters and maximum of 4 semesters
- The Part-time MBA (Executive) programme will last for twenty four to thirty-six months.
- All Regular Masters degree programmes are by course-work and dissertation, and the duration shall be a minimum of one calendar year and maximum of three years for full-time students and minimum of two years and a maximum of five years for part- time.
- M. Phil. will essentially be conducted through coursework and research. The duration shall be a minimum of eighteen calendar months and a maximum of forty eight calendar months for students on full time basis, and a minimum of thirty six calendar months and a maximum of seventy two calendar months for students on part-time basis.
- A Ph.D. Degree Programme shall be conducted through comprehensive research to be embodied in a Thesis. The duration shall be a minimum of three years and maximum of five years for full-time students, and a minimum of five years and a maximum of seven years for part-time students.

The application shall be online and Application Forms are available for sale as from 16th October, to 16th November, 2012 at First Bank Plc. branches nationwide at the cost of N10,000.00 only, excluding bank charges of N 300.00.
